Step 1
Cut the top of your plastic bottle.
Step 2
Take magazine paper and cut it into think strips slightly less than 1 inch wide.
Step 3
Take a plain piece of paper, fold it in half, and cut thin slits that are 1 inch from the bottom of the paper and 1 inch apart.
Step 4
Cut down magazine strips so that their length matches the width of the plain paper. Lay the strips on the sections created when plain paper was cut.
Step 5
Align the top and bottom of your paper to the bottle and secure with a stapler.
Step 6
Cut out 3 more thin strips of magazine paper.
Step 7
Cut out a 2 inch x 8 inch wide piece of plain paper. Paste on one magazine paper strip on this plain piece of paper and attach this paper to both sides of the plastic bottle (this is our handle). Attach the other two magazine paper strips to the top and bottom of the plastic bottle.
Step 8
Create butterflies from neutral-colored or white magazine paper. Refer to butterfly heart craft for how to make butterflies. Color and design you butterfly!

Glue you butterflies onto your lantern.
